Peer eXchange and Learning (PXL) workshop on Policy instruments for S3 implementation

17 January 2018
Seville, Spain

The European Commission, DG Joint Research Centre (JRC), is inviting regional and national authorities to the Peer eXchange and Learning (PXL) workshop on Policy Instruments organised by the S3 Platform.

This event will take place on Seville (Spain), 17 January 2018.

The PXL exercise will focus on experiences and challenges associated to the design and implementation of effective policy instruments for the research and innovation priority areas identified in RIS3. In particular, this workshop will explore:

  • how policy instruments, implemented by regions and countries, are addressing the research and innovation priority areas identified in smart specialisation strategies;
  • main challenges related to the implementation of support instruments for pilot initiatives, platforms and partnerships and the use of more innovative policy instruments (such as public procurement for R&D and innovation, etc.).

This workshop will offer regional and national authorities an opportunity to discuss and exchange experiences on this topic with their peers, experts and the European Commission.

Four regions will provide a short account of their experience in designing and implementing policy instruments for the implementation of their respective RIS3. Presentations will be then followed by a discussion of the key questions, issues and challenges proposed by the four regions under review.

This workshop will be based on the PXL methodology developed for smart specialisation strategies by the S3Platform.

Participation in the workshop is free of charge. Travel and accommodation need to be organised and paid by the participants.

To register for this event, please complete the online form by no later than 11 January 2018.
