Macroalgae Working Group kick-off meeting

On 15. June 2021 SUBMARINER Network with the GRASS project organised the kick-off meeting of
the Macroalgae Working Group meeting.

In the two hours meeting more than 40 seaweed stakeholders from the Baltic Sea Region and
beyond, set the focus of the new WG, and discussed the first tasks of the new WG, e.g. the
development of a policy paper on Baltic macroalgae and also the development of s joint response to
EU open consultation on Algae.

Three guests pitched the projects:
- Anna Wångmar & Cassandra Köbbel TEN ISLAND SEAFARM
- Vincent Doumeizel - UNGC Seaweed Safety Coalition
- Alexa Klettner - Fucosan Project & Network

The new WG collected substantial feedback from participants through Sli.Do. polls, while chat had its
own life filled with networking activities.

The WG renewed its appointment till August, while a Task Force will be set for development of the
Macroalgae Policy paper.
