SUBMARINER joins the Biobased Industries Consortium (BIC)
Blue bioeconomy is increasingly gaining ground next to the more established green bioeconomy in the EU Research and Innovation Agenda, and more industry is investing in blue biobased products. Such as fish, algae, and blue biotechnology.
The Bio-Based Industries – Joint Undertaking (BBI-JU), is the leading industry-driven biobased private-public partnership (PPP) of Europe between EC and the Biobased Industries Consortium (BIC). BBI-JU since 2014 has funded 123 biobased projects, 13 of which are involving aquatic biomass. In a strategic movement this yeat, we decided to join the Biobased Industries Consortium (BIC) as a member. Our aims are:
1) to lobby in favour of more “blue biobased” calls in the next Strategic Innovation & Research Agendas (SIRA) of the BBI-JU,
2) join the other “blue” and “green” BIC members in project partnerships for the development of new robust sustainable blue-green solutions at a scale, and finally
3) to bring the Baltic and Nordic innovation capacities closer other leading pan-European and international developments.
