InnoAquaTech promotes cross-border development and transfer of innovative sustainable
and environmentally friendly aquaculture technologies in the South Baltic area.

InnoAquaTech pilots

To gain hands-on experience in innovative recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), four pilot projects were launched as part of InnoAquaTech.
Each pilot focuses on a specfic technology in RAS and is implemented in a South Baltic Sea region.

With this pilot scale demonstration, Danish Technological Institute, InnoAquaTech will calculate the viability and potential productivity of combining fish farming in RAS with the cultivation of microalgae.

      Whilst most were enjoying their summer holidays, Guldborgsund Zoo was a hive of activity, preparing together with DTI for the reception of 105 catfish (Clarias gariepinus) fingerlings – the inhabitants of the second phase of the Danish InnoAquaTech Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) demonstration and dissemination pilot, which is part of a temporary exhibition and will run for the next three months.

      The 4th Fish Congress took place in Sopot, Poland on the 30th and 31st March. Under the official patronage of the Polish Minister of Maritime Economy and Eurofish International, it is the annual fisheries industry management conference. The National Marine Fisheries Research Institute (NMFRI) together with the West Pomeranian University of Technology were this year’s programme partners.

      Innovative Aquaculture – Professional Training Seminar in Gdynia

      On 29th March, the University of Gdańsk held a professional training seminar entitled “Innovative Aquaculture”. The aim was to present opportunities for innovative aquaculture solutions across the South Baltic Region. The seminar was the first InnoAquaTech training session offered to external stakeholders such as practitioners, representatives of private enterprises, government agencies, industry associations, universities, research and industry institutes.

      Spring has sprung and the project has started off 2017 with a chain of bi-lateral meetings between the project partners with discussions and agreements of cross-border collaboration across many of the work packages.

      The 27-29th March were three hectic days as the first study visit to the K2 Fish Farm, the first professional meeting and the 2nd partner meeting took place. The project partners, SMEs and stakeholders were shown the warm hospitality of the University of Gdansk in Gdynia.

      The first newsletter of InnoAquaTech is available!

      The first newsletter of InnoAquaTech has just been published! The first project meeting took place in October in Rostock (Germany) and was used to discuss how to get the best out of the project and how to strengthen the outreach to companies in relevant value chain sectors. A first possibility to communicate the project was found a few weeks later when the University of Rostock hosted the project poster and presentation from their stand at the EuroTier Trade Fair, where more than 163.000 visitors attended.
